PP hollow plastic formwork is a modern and efficient building material, mostly with a porous structure with grid or round holes. After professional modification and granulation, PP plastic can simultaneously meet good ductility and structural rigidity, and is suitable for use as a building formwork. It overcomes the shortcomings of wood and bamboo formworks, such as easy deformation, easy cracking, and short life, and has gradually gained favor in the construction market with its high number of reuses. It is particularly suitable for medium to large construction projects that require consistent, high-quality concrete finishes. It is widely used in large projects such as high-rise buildings, bridges, and tunnels.

As an attractive alternative to traditional formwork, its significant benefits are:

  • Durable
PP hollow plastic formwork is high strength, impact resistance, wear resistance and other excellent properties, and has a long service life. After repeated use, the strength and shape of the formwork can still be maintained well, and the number of reuses can reach more than 50 times, which greatly reduces the construction cost.
  • Easy to process
The formwork material can be cut, planed, nailed, etc. according to actual requirements, which is convenient for customized processing according to engineering requirements and improves construction flexibility.
  • Easy to operate
PP hollow plastic formwork is light in weight, easy to carry and operate, and construction workers can more easily build and dismantle the formwork, which greatly improves construction efficiency and saves time and labor costs.
  • Safety and reliability
PP hollow plastic formwork does not absorb water, is corrosion-resistant, acid-resistant, and has a smooth surface, avoiding deformation, decay, and other problems that may be caused by traditional wooden formwork. And no mold release agent is required during use.
  • Environmental protection
PP material is a thermoplastic plastic with excellent recycling performance. The formwork after the end of its service life can be completely recycled and reused, reducing resource waste.

The cost of PP hollow plastic building formwork can be greatly reduced compared to traditional wooden formwork.

Thermoplastic Composite PP Hollow Plastic Formwork

Although PP hollow board has good performance and reusable advantages, after multiple uses, its surface may be eroded by concrete, resulting in a certain degree of wear and damage, which will affect the quality of the next cast building. In order to extend its service life and improve its efficiency, TOPOLOGROUP innovatively combines CFRT (continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite material) with PP hollow board. Through this composite technology, not only the surface durability and corrosion resistance are improved, but also the strength and stability of the overall structure are enhanced, which greatly extends the number of reuses of the PP hollow board to more than 100 times.

The CFRT matrix used for thermoplastic composite is PP (polypropylene) resin. After the heating and cooling process, CFRT is evenly coated on the surface of the PP hollow plate, usually with a thin thickness of less than 1mm. CFRT has a smooth and flat surface and a criss-crossed fiber internal structure, which not only enhances the strength and rigidity of the material, but also gives it excellent impact resistance and durability. Compared with traditional release agents, CFRT can still maintain the consistency and stability of the surface after each demolding, avoiding the influence of the release agent on the surface quality, so that the product still maintains excellent appearance and performance after the demolding process.
