Polypropylene (PP) honeycomb core is a new type of lightweight and durable structural material made of polypropylene plastic according to the bionic principle of honeycomb. Compared with traditional honeycomb products, polypropylene honeycomb has obvious advantages, the cost is lower than aluminum honeycomb material, the life is longer than paper honeycomb material, and it can be highly customized.
Main Features
- Lightweight: The density of the honeycomb core is very small, much lighter than traditional materials, and is suitable for fields that require lightweight materials.
- Sound insulation: Due to the unique hole structure design, its closed cells limit the propagation of sound, so it is suitable for places that require sound insulation and heat insulation.
- Environmentally friendly: The honeycomb core is made of environmentally friendly polypropylene material, does not contain harmful substances, and is recyclable, meeting environmental protection requirements.
- Compression resistance: The honeycomb structure of the honeycomb core can effectively disperse pressure and maintain structural stability.
- Corrosion-resistant: Polypropylene material, as a plastic with stable performance, is not hydrophilic and resistant to most chemicals.

Categories and Applications

Pure PP Honeycomb
It is mainly used in the production of thermoplastic composite panels, usually laminated with thermoplastic materials. This composite method does not require glue as an adhesive. In this composite process, the polypropylene honeycomb and the thermoplastic skin material will be heated and melted to combine with each other.

PP Honeycomb with non-woven fabric
The purpose of adding non-woven fabric to the surface of polypropylene honeycomb is to compound it with other non-thermoplastic surface materials. In this compounding process, glue is needed as an adhesive. When glue is applied to the non-woven fabric, it penetrates into its pores, just like the glue “grasping” the fine fibers of the non-woven fabric, thereby improving the bonding effect between the glue and the polypropylene honeycomb.
Applications
Polypropylene honeycomb core has great potential in lightweight structures. Due to its excellent mechanical properties, it is very suitable for use as the sandwich part of structural composite panels, especially for the production of large-size panels. It greatly improves the performance of products and brings significant economic benefits.
- Construction: PP honeycomb is used as the core material for building curtain walls, ceilings and wall panels.
- Transportation: In the aviation, marine and automotive industries, PP honeycomb is used as the core material for structural materials such as aircraft interior panels, ship decks, truck floors, door panels and floors.
- Furniture manufacturing: PPhoneycomb is also used in furniture manufacturing, such as tabletops, door panels, partitions, etc.
- Wind and solar energy: PP honeycomb core is used in the support structure of wind turbine blades and solar panels.
- Sports equipment: Used to make lightweight sports equipment such as pickle paddles, skis, surfboards and windsurfing boards.
