XPS Foam Aluminum Sandwich Panels

Home » Materials » XPS Sandwich Panels

With extruded polystyrene (XPS) foam as a core material sandwiched between two aluminum sheets, the sandwich panel combines the excellent thermal insulation properties of the XPS core with the durability, strength, and weather resistance of the aluminum sheets. Using aluminum sheets instead of FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) or wood as the skin of sandwich panels can significantly improve their strength and durability. Its many advantages are concentrated in:

  • Lightweight.
  • Thermal Insulation.
  • High Strength.
  • Rust-proof.
  • Flame Retardant.

Common Surface Treatments

XPS Foam Core

XPS (extruded polystyrene) foam insulation board is made of polystyrene resin as raw material and other auxiliary materials and polymers. They are heated and mixed through a special process, and then continuously extruded and pressed to produce a rigid foam board.

  • Density: 35-50kg/m³.
  • Thermal Conductivity: 0.025-0.035W/m·K.
  • Compressive Strength: 200-700 kPa.
  • Tensile Strength: 500–1000 kPa.
  • Water Absorption: <0.5%.
  • Dimensional Stability: <1.5%.
  • Flame Retardant Grade: B1-B2.
  • Operating Temperature Range: -50°C to +75°C.
  • Color: Yellow, white, green, brown, etc.

Applications

XPS foam aluminum sandwich panels are suitable for facilities that require both thermal insulation and stable structure, such as:

  • Modular Buildings: Barracks, experimental rooms, equipment shelters, etc. that can be quickly installed and disassembled.
  • Insulated Boxes: Cold storage and industrial equipment casings that maintain low internal temperatures, etc.
  • Vehicle Bodies: Reduce vehicle weight and enhance protection performance such as RVs, box trucks, fire trucks, tool trucks, etc.

Materials and Craftsmanship

  • High-strength pre-painted aluminum alloy skin.
  • 100% virgin XPS closed-cell (extruded polystyrene) foam.
  • High-temperature resistant and waterproof adhesive.
  • One-piece vacuum high-pressure composite panel process.
