Polyethylene (PE) resin Fiberglass thermoplastic UD tape is an advanced thermoplastic composite that combines PE resin with Unidirectional (UD) pre-impregnated glass fibers. These tapes are specifically designed to enhance the mechanical properties of thermoplastic composite pipes (such as RTP – Reinforced Thermoplastic Pipe and TCP – Thermoplastic Composite Pipe) for applications such as oil & gas, water transportation and industrial fluid handling systems. Compared to traditional steel or concrete pipe, RTP and TCP reinforced with PE Thermoplastic UD Tapes are more cost-effective because they are lighter, less expensive to install, and more durable.

RTP and TCP Pipes
RTP and TCP pipes are both innovative materials in modern pipe technology. They are composite pipes made of thermoplastic resins and reinforcement materials. Their design relies on a multi-layer structure, each layer has a specific function to ensure the reliability and performance of the pipe in different environments.

Application of UD Tape in RTP/TCP Pipe
The extruded liner pipe is repeatedly spirally wound with a reinforced unidirectional tape to form the required reinforcement layer, and then extruded and coated with an outer sheath layer. Because the unidirectional tape is very thin, it needs to be repeatedly wound in many layers, usually 4-10 or more layers, and heating and pressurization are required during the winding.
