What is MPP foam?
MPP (microcellular polypropylene) foam refers to polypropylene porous foam material with a pore size of less than 100μm (more strictly defined as a pore size of less than 10μm). This is a foam material with excellent comprehensive performance. Its outstanding feature is that under the same foaming ratio (or apparent density), due to the small pore size, the mechanical property loss of microporous foam material is small. Existing foam materials are either hard and brittle or soft and tough, and it is difficult to have both rigidity and toughness. Polypropylene microporous foam material has both rigidity and toughness, which supplements the shortcomings of existing foam material performance.

What are the advantages of MPP foam?
Existing foam materials are either hard and brittle or soft and tough, and it is difficult to have both rigidity and toughness. Polypropylene microcellular foam material has both rigidity and toughness, which supplements the shortcomings of existing foam material performance.
High temperature resistance
The thermal deformation temperature of MPP foam material is much higher than that of PE, PS, PU and other foam materials, which can reach 150~170℃, making it particularly suitable for high temperature environments.
Sound absorption
It has an open cell pore structure. When sound waves penetrate the foam, they will be reflected, refracted and scattered in the pores, causing the energy of the sound waves to gradually convert into heat energy, ultimately reducing the propagation of sound.
Fireproof & Waterproof
HF-1 grade fire retardant performance, extremely low water absorption (<0.001%).
Lightweight
Lightweight and high-strength MPP can significantly reduce the consumption of raw materials and reduce the weight of products while maintaining the necessary performance of the products.
Thermal insulation
Micrometer-scale pores reduce the convection of gas in the pores, thereby reducing the heat transfer caused by air convection, so high-ratio microporous foam materials have extremely low thermal conductivity.
Ultra-thin and flexible
MPP foam can be cut into ultra-thin sheets with a thickness of less than 0.1mm, and the sheets will not break even if they are folded in half.
Environmentally friendly and recyclable
MPP foam does not produce harmful substances during the preparation process. Since the PP material does not undergo cross-linking during the foaming process, it is recyclable and reusable.

Production Process of MPP foam
Using supercritical fluid technology, supercritical carbon dioxide or supercritical nitrigon is introduced into polypropylene material under high temperature and pressure to form a single-phase solution of polypropylene or supercritical fluid, and finally form PP foam material with a cell size of micrometer scale. This production process is non-toxic and odorless.

Application of MPP foam
MPP foam is used in many industrial production fields.

- MPP foam is widely used in wall insulation and noise control due to its excellent thermal insulation performance and good sound absorption effect. In addition, it can also be used as a shock-absorbing pad under the floor to reduce ground vibration to protect the building structure from the risk of damage

- MPP foam is used as a substitute for sound insulation and filling materials in vehicle chassis. Its excellent impact resistance and vibration resistance can greatly improve driving comfort and vehicle durability.

- Due to its good barrier effect on electromagnetic waves and its low static electricity, it is one of the ideal shielding material choices. It also has a buffering function to ensure the safe transportation of electronic equipment and protect the equipment from external impact.

- MPP foam, as the core material of the insulation composite panel, provides excellent insulation and heat insulation effects and is used in high-end refrigerated trucks, RVs, aviation boxes, and cold rooms.

- It can be used as a filling blank for various sports equipment, such as helmets, surfboards, sailboats, gymnastics mats, etc.

- It can be used in the production of daily necessities such as medicine, food, toys, tools, cosmetics, etc.
